1978 Low / Heroes Tour (AUS/NZ)
Commencing in March 1978 and taking in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and now for the first time, Australia and New Zealand, the geographical scope of this tour was larger than any Bowie tour before.

The Pacific part was called "The Oz Tour" and the overwhelming demand enabled Bowie to play massive open air venues such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground - one of the 10 largest stadiums on the planet.

To make an impression in these arenas, Bowie developed the stark approach of the 1976 staging. The ceiling of fluorescent tubes which had formed part of the Station to Station tour's lighting rig was expanded to create enormous panels of stripped light, hanging like prison bars at the back and on the ceiling of the stage - of which would pulsate in time to the music...
